Though I snapped up two scarves at last year's market, this year, especially considering the 10-Euros-cashmere-sweaters I've found at similar such markets throughout the year that have since turned to rags, the thrill over such dubious bargains has turned rather stale.<br /><br />There's nothing exciting about cheaply-made goods. All the French markets I've experienced (except <i>brocantes</i>) are like this, and they puzzle me as they completely contradict what I know about France's love for high quality, locally-produced goods. Perhaps these markets are the French's version of Big Box shopping, their form of retail junk???<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7P9e_-g0mkI/Up8fdGpQ3GI/AAAAAAAAJT0/G3dFhZCMHIE/s1600/P1030660.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7P9e_-g0mkI/Up8fdGpQ3GI/AAAAAAAAJT0/G3dFhZCMHIE/s400/P1030660.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Lamp: Annecy <i>vide grenier</i><br />Bowl and candelabra: Annecy thrift shop.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />The long and short of it: the exception to the dirth of uninspiring scarves, sweaters, slippers and kitchen knives, was this amazing hand-printed tablecloth bought at a stall by a man selling textiles from India. Ethnic <i>anything</i> is not so easy to find in this part of France (and the gal next door who sells gorg Moroccan pieces is closing up shop in the New Year and moving to Marrakesh!), so when I discovered this gent, who wholesales across France and has two retail shops in a nearby town, I was thrilled beyond belief.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jyz97fX9bx8/Up8oyIQoO2I/AAAAAAAAJVM/4F4nfMMuzzM/s1600/P1030662.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-jyz97fX9bx8/Up8oyIQoO2I/AAAAAAAAJVM/4F4nfMMuzzM/s400/P1030662.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />Hubs and I were talking about the beauty and wisdom (and the sad slaughter of African variety) of these wonderful creatures only the night before, so it was fortuitous that we found a tablecloth with elephants on it. There are peacocks in the middle too.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9DPDyJaArNc/Up8gQSxcm2I/AAAAAAAAJUA/pvKXFu3oxrY/s1600/P1030692.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="293" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9DPDyJaArNc/Up8gQSxcm2I/AAAAAAAAJUA/pvKXFu3oxrY/s400/P1030692.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />Though they're different styles entirely, I think the cloth goes really well with this bowl I thrifted at my local shop. Forget the tourist shops if you want to find nice French pottery and such in Annecy. The thrift store is piled high with bowls, plates, dishes, cups - you name it - and all from a few centimes to a few Euros each.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BLX9R99UOHE/Up8gnVvv7uI/AAAAAAAAJUI/8LIYXbMFBuQ/s1600/P1030519.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="288" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-BLX9R99UOHE/Up8gnVvv7uI/AAAAAAAAJUI/8LIYXbMFBuQ/s400/P1030519.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">A tale of two candelabras, both second-hand ....</td></tr></tbody></table><br />Like everything in my old Canadian pad, many of our decorative accessories are second-hand. I've been on a candelabra bender of late. I've always wanted one but have never found one to suit my budget or style - and the really ornate, Gothic-type styles leave me cold. Then all of a sudden, I find two simple styles back-to-back! The elegant silver-tone beauty was 30 Euros at my local consignment shop (I had money on my account so I count this as a "trade" item).<br /><br />Then the next day, I was in the thrift shop and there was this heavy rustic pewter candelabra (behind) made by French company Etains du Manoir. For 5 Euros!<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j_Wd7L3lWPA/Up8hAo1MJWI/AAAAAAAAJUQ/4OLI6llZw28/s1600/P1030678.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j_Wd7L3lWPA/Up8hAo1MJWI/AAAAAAAAJUQ/4OLI6llZw28/s400/P1030678.JPG" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Second-hand textiles: Granny's old shawl...</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I have a thing for vintage textiles - the more beat up, the better, in some cases. This wool shawl has stains, a few holes and is criss-crossed with hand-sewn stitches from over the years, but I love it. I found it in a junk shop in Toronto, which apparently came in a box marked "Granny's shawl". I knew the shop owner and bet he bought the box for that very reason - and of course, when he shared the story with me, I had to have the shawl.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7_2al9hRkW4/Up8j0wQOhOI/AAAAAAAAJUc/EJ3Mqzw3ajc/s1600/P1030673.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7_2al9hRkW4/Up8j0wQOhOI/AAAAAAAAJUc/EJ3Mqzw3ajc/s320/P1030673.JPG" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"> ... wool scarf ...</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I found this wool men's scarf at a skanky French thrift shop and use it on my photo table as a runner.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pr8EdkeTEqw/Up8kVY5tOeI/AAAAAAAAJUk/xtxXLZfx2Iw/s1600/P1030687.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pr8EdkeTEqw/Up8kVY5tOeI/AAAAAAAAJUk/xtxXLZfx2Iw/s400/P1030687.JPG" width="300" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">... and French scarf.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />Meanwhile this second-hand French scarf creates a pretty border on a table showcasing my and my hubby's wooden box collections.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MLqh8BD5dR0/Up8kuxyL_gI/AAAAAAAAJUs/4vKiNUytIAE/s1600/P1030659.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-MLqh8BD5dR0/Up8kuxyL_gI/AAAAAAAAJUs/4vKiNUytIAE/s400/P1030659.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />Btw, hubby made me the flower out of an old foil wrapper. I gave away or sold most of the pack when I moved overseas (along with most of my apartment, in the biggest decluttering exercise of my life), though I couldn't let go of them all. I've had the pink and green embroidered throw (back) since I was 21, bought as a birthday gift in an ethnic-y shop in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The Kilim one in front was a recent Etsy find.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iFNwc_rs6R8/Up8oHKcTDXI/AAAAAAAAJVA/aS1Eg7KaUnk/s1600/P1030685.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="282" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-iFNwc_rs6R8/Up8oHKcTDXI/AAAAAAAAJVA/aS1Eg7KaUnk/s320/P1030685.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />This oversize one was dug up at a Toronto consignment shop specializing in decor. Apparently it's a custom-made pillow made out of antique fabric. Green velvet anything really rocks my boat, as did this pretty pattern, so it stayed on the "keep" list.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fDCJbrGbrFM/Up9pPieAsGI/AAAAAAAAJVc/sYr5Yu-ef-E/s1600/P1030668.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fDCJbrGbrFM/Up9pPieAsGI/AAAAAAAAJVc/sYr5Yu-ef-E/s400/P1030668.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />Can't not include the little guy. I've found a few knit patchwork blankets at the thrift shop this past year, and this mini one was very boy-like and will eventually go on Adam's bed. Perhaps having a husband with his own individual style is another reason! I'm really looking forward to creating a home, and putting together a cute boy's room out of thrifty goodies, once we have a new, larger place. I used to feature a lot more thrifty decorating on this blog, and I miss it. Does the girl have a problem with lace-up booties? Hell yah. But when I find such great deals online, how can I help it? Plus, all the booties look the same in Annecy - slouchy and bling-encrusted - and, like every thing here, they're not inexpensive.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2hk1Lx9iYas/UpYZ2MS8iMI/AAAAAAAAJJc/YuvlBFQ7oVo/s1600/P1030619.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-2hk1Lx9iYas/UpYZ2MS8iMI/AAAAAAAAJJc/YuvlBFQ7oVo/s640/P1030619.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Hooded coat: retail, a few years ago<br />Vintage fur gloves: Ebay<br />Leather 1990s bucket bag: Annecy thrift shop<br />Fur hat: Annecy thrift shop<br />Vintage scarf: Etsy<br />Fur-lined skirt peeing out: Annecy consignment shop.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />You'll recognize the fur hat from last year - my jaw-dropping 1 Euro thrift shop find. I occasionally wore vintage fur in Toronto, and I must admit to having mixed feelings about it. I have no desire to enter into a political discussion on the merits and downfalls of vintage fur, but I do find it interesting that, in a place where fur is everywhere (and most emphatically NOT vintage; I have seen many women in their 50s and 60s wearing full-length contemporary fur coats), it can sometimes be an easier decision to wear it - especially when it costs a Euro and it keeps my head really, really warm in the not-so-cold but damp winters here. Ditto for the vintage Dents England fur gloves I'm wearing here, found on Ebay.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VIG7JEtSYqs/UpYcYV7bytI/AAAAAAAAJJo/H4lEUNEhI88/s1600/P1030605.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="367" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VIG7JEtSYqs/UpYcYV7bytI/AAAAAAAAJJo/H4lEUNEhI88/s400/P1030605.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Vintage hammered brass and coloured cab necklace found at my local thrift shop - for under 5 Euros!</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />On another front, I routinely ooh and ahh over my thrifty vintage blogging buddies' finds in the UK, Canada and Australia. Such raging deals they find: a few pence; a few bucks. I heave a huge sigh of self-pity over the fact that I rarely dig up such inexpensive items in my local thrift shop (Annecy is land of the affluent, and the higher costs even trickle down to second-hand goods), and I often find myself dreaming of the day when I can go crazy in some grimy Toronto thrift shop. (When I visit, I am SO bringing an empty suitcase!).<br /><br />So I'm going to feature a few recent 5-Euros-and-under thrift shop finds, like the necklace, above (4.50). I liked its arty groove: tribal boho. Of course, about 80 percent of Adam's wardrobe, comprised of 1-3 Euro deals, could be included in this entry but I think you'll get more excited about bling and handbags.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KkRFc2zP_9g/UpYecwV3foI/AAAAAAAAJJ4/64P7obmOmHw/s1600/P1030624.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KkRFc2zP_9g/UpYecwV3foI/AAAAAAAAJJ4/64P7obmOmHw/s400/P1030624.JPG" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Don't let the crappy pic fool you: this bag is humongous. A true French-style handbag, it doesn't really fit into my life (how does a French woman with a stroller hold the bloody thing? I must observe better), but let's just say that wild horses couldn't have stopped me from taking this baby home. After all, I'm living in France, ie: Land of the Scarves, which is perfect for me as I don't think a gal can have too many. BTW do you know the history of Laura Ashley as a designer? I never thought the yellow and black bumblebee look would work, but I'm groovin on this outfit (snapped outside the grocery store - yes, us ladies of leisure live exciting lives!).<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZUaZYVZCyI/UlwmSIxkjhI/AAAAAAAAHZg/QjvnBUZDFnU/s1600/photo-2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AZUaZYVZCyI/UlwmSIxkjhI/AAAAAAAAHZg/QjvnBUZDFnU/s640/photo-2.JPG" width="478" /></a></div><br />Then last week, when I took more bling to my consignment shop, I spied these Tom Ford sunglasses. I know Tom Ford more for the fab flick he directed, <i>A Single Man</i>, than for his fashions and famed business sense. But I loved the way these looked on me. They were rather beat up - scratched on the lenses and the frames - so the owner knocked 20 euros off. Since I had sold a few items in her shop recently, I essentially got them for free rather than pocketing the cash I made.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4Y_y0Fz77YU/UlwqYEAS2qI/AAAAAAAAHZs/XjIg06RVNqo/s1600/P1030472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4Y_y0Fz77YU/UlwqYEAS2qI/AAAAAAAAHZs/XjIg06RVNqo/s400/P1030472.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />I've mentioned Cadoro jewellery before, but haven't explained my obsession with it. Cadoro was a high-end jewellery company founded in the 1950s in Manhattan. It's known for its handmade haute hippie pieces made out of unusual materials. The jewellery is quite collectible now as the company ceased to exist in the 1980s. Cadoro pieces are so arty that some can be found in New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art and Museum of Modern Art.<br /><br />I'm now a happy Cadoro addict (some of their tassel necklaces rock). I found these two yellow corded necklaces with sliding gold bits online. They're really more summer pieces but as you can see I've managed to work them into my fall look. I have many more Cadoro pieces to share with you! I've stopped buying them but have a nice little collection - my first really meaningful vintage jewellery collection (which explains why there's been a mass exodus of my lower tier vintage costume jewellery to the consignment shop). Guess that means I'm a grown-up now!kumarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15453468827367451438noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5707144963753882676.post-20327542439437658352013-10-08T06:31:00.000-07:002013-12-14T11:05:04.154-08:00Latest greatest second-hand accessory<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CneaW5wQAFQ/UlPriA4ufOI/AAAAAAAAHXg/GSS-bRINj8I/s1600/securedownload-17.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CneaW5wQAFQ/UlPriA4ufOI/AAAAAAAAHXg/GSS-bRINj8I/s640/securedownload-17.jpeg" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Thrifted Thierry Mugler blazer: four euros, Annecy thrift shop<br />Bally bag: 25 euros, consignment shop<br />Turtleneck: thrifted in Canada<br />Levis: new/retail (of so worth it).</td></tr></tbody></table><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />Nope. What this means: when I go into the shop to drop off another stash and pick up my cheque, I sometimes, but not always, walk out with something. I've gotten rid of many a vintage bag via this method, which no longer suit my life, so I didn't feel the least bit guilty snapping up a bag that does.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PYeFSheNwiY/UlPw1QBbxqI/AAAAAAAAHX4/ujQiXvIwJ9A/s1600/securedownload-18.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PYeFSheNwiY/UlPw1QBbxqI/AAAAAAAAHX4/ujQiXvIwJ9A/s640/securedownload-18.jpeg" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Vintage Etienne Aigner granny boots: Ebay<br />Turtlenck: new/retail bought years ago<br />1970s velvet patchwork blazer: thrifted in Canada<br />Levis: new/retail.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />The bag ticks all the boxes, satisfying my need for space with my ongoing obsession for fabric and brocade. Plus I like that I can indulge in a bit of pattern mixing when I wear it. Of course, Bally, a Swiss maker, does lovely high-quality bags that aren't cheap. Since all my outfits are looking the same these days, I'm putting special emphasis on quality accessories that I love.<br /><br />I'm wearing my "new" vintage Etienne Aigner granny booties found on Ebay, which, judging by the square toe (I can't believe I'm doing a square toe!), must be 1990s, what do you think? I found it for a few bucks at a Canadian thrift shop, and I just love it. Now that I've put on a few pounds, I fill it out much better than I used to when I was a skinny-Minny. Just look at those mammoth buttons!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a1TLRdOpNNU/UlP0IekNZtI/AAAAAAAAHYM/KkQdJneTjK8/s1600/securedownload-21.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-a1TLRdOpNNU/UlP0IekNZtI/AAAAAAAAHYM/KkQdJneTjK8/s640/securedownload-21.jpeg" width="478" /></a></div><br />How much do I love it? So much so that when I recently found the matching long a-line skirt on Ebay (maker: Marks and Spencer - mine doesn't have a tag), I almost bought it - wouldn't I have looked crazy with the entire ensemble on? But the 27-inch waist, my pre-preggo waist size, deterred me. Sigh. I ended up consoling myself with a vintage velvet Laura Ashley skirt, with a more realistic waist size, which will rock with the Etienne Aigner granny boots and jibe with my growing Victorian-esque style aesthetic.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-phKisT2AHgw/UlP_y1F62AI/AAAAAAAAHYc/ETVPikL93n0/s1600/_DSC1933.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-phKisT2AHgw/UlP_y1F62AI/AAAAAAAAHYc/ETVPikL93n0/s640/_DSC1933.jpg" width="426" /></a></div><br />Adam, meanwhile, continues to rock the second-hand orange look.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PoffPvCFLks/UlQAmuBQIXI/AAAAAAAAHYk/4jQ-S2uSWcc/s1600/_DSC1903.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="265" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PoffPvCFLks/UlQAmuBQIXI/AAAAAAAAHYk/4jQ-S2uSWcc/s400/_DSC1903.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />Hairbrushes are so fascinating.:)<br /><br />Linking up, after a long absence, to the stylish gals over at Patti's <a href="http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.fr/2013/10/visible-monday-114-florida-orange.html" target="_blank">Visible Monday</a>.kumarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15453468827367451438noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5707144963753882676.post-306669835835440412013-09-25T12:46:00.000-07:002013-12-14T11:05:04.160-08:00My fall style obsessions<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--lg9qYBlLmg/UkLjWSCwdcI/AAAAAAAAHWA/4bMaxbIGWSE/s1600/IMG_4598.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--lg9qYBlLmg/UkLjWSCwdcI/AAAAAAAAHWA/4bMaxbIGWSE/s640/IMG_4598.jpg" width="526" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Second-hand granny boots: Ebay<br />90s dress: thrifted in Annecy, France<br />Vintage Bergdorf Goodman brocade jacket: 50% off sale at Toronto vintage shop<br />Bag: handmade in Montreal, Canada<br />Scarf: new and purchased years ago<br />Second-hand Ray Ban shades: Annecy <i>brocante</i> market<br />Second-hand Scooter Paris necklace: Annecy <i>vide grenier</i><br />Vintage mood ring: Ebay.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />Great vintage costume jewellery. Anything that's vintage tapestry, be it a handbag or a coat. A good pair (or five, LOL) of vintage boots. Some things will always be style obsessions.<br /><br />But, in truth, my wardrobe wants lately aren't radically different from the pieces that have appealed to me in the last year or so, just perhaps more refined. In general, I love the 90s, semi-steampunk vibe of this outfit. Specifically, I'm grooving majorly on granny boots these days, especially the Victorian-esque look of these. (Yes, I could have worn black boots to match this outfit, but these babies arrived at my door the other day and I was too excited not to wear them. I think it's refreshing to forgo the matchy-matchy thing).<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AnngognWbPQ/UkLmBeUGj9I/AAAAAAAAHWM/irf0T18zBA8/s1600/IMG_4602.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-AnngognWbPQ/UkLmBeUGj9I/AAAAAAAAHWM/irf0T18zBA8/s640/IMG_4602.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><br />Having recently purchased three used pair of granny boots from Ebay, I can't deny that my penchant for lace-up booties has taken a rather strong hold of late. They're comfy (even these three-inch brown leather/fabric ones as the heel is chunky) and go with literally everything. And of course, I just love the granny boot look. I had a pair in the mid-1980s when I was a teen. Funny how the style options we gravitate towards are often ones we've worn and loved in the past, isn't it?<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yERMgphWPhI/UkLm3U0i1CI/AAAAAAAAHWU/ZMxuUE4BtLQ/s1600/_DSC1944.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yERMgphWPhI/UkLm3U0i1CI/AAAAAAAAHWU/ZMxuUE4BtLQ/s640/_DSC1944.jpg" width="426" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">1990s? It's hard to know buying online what the weight and stone colour will be like, but so far, I've fared well. Long-time readers may remember my wearing some of my fave thrifted 1970s goodies. This post is dedicated to saying a final goodbye to the items that I have outgrown emotionally, not to mention physically!<br /><br />Kinda hard to believe I was this wee. Boy, did I love this psychedelic wide-leg nylon pants. This pic was snapped by my hubby-to-be in 2010, on his first trip to see me in Canada after we met in the United States a few weeks before. This was in Niagara Falls, Canadian side.<br /><br />I consigned these pants at my local shop this summer. The owner recently told me that an 80-year old woman bought them. Rock on, lady!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KeHefztZF90/UXEqqv4L8MI/AAAAAAAAG-Y/mqFbwnsBpCU/s1600/green+dress+5+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KeHefztZF90/UXEqqv4L8MI/AAAAAAAAG-Y/mqFbwnsBpCU/s640/green+dress+5+(2).jpg" width="478" /></a></div><br />A friend, who isn't a friend any more, gave me this nylon dress when I left Toronto two years ago to move to the UK. I wasn't that emotional about getting rid of it. It also sold at my local shop.<br /><br />But I did hang onto the wacky 1970s faceted shades.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MRS0r7EeNOY/UXErj-ZI3XI/AAAAAAAAG-g/Ep_-9BKMifI/s1600/prom10+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-MRS0r7EeNOY/UXErj-ZI3XI/AAAAAAAAG-g/Ep_-9BKMifI/s640/prom10+(2).jpg" width="366" /></a></div><br />I thrifted this pretty prom-like frock in Canada years ago and never wore it, save for this UK back yard photo shoot before I moved to France. Off it went to the consignment shop, where it also found a new home. Vintage is scarce in Annecy so my pieces have sold well.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OLWmPfh5h0E/UXEr3syGfPI/AAAAAAAAG-o/cXNQdu4ov1M/s1600/ebay+dress+2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OLWmPfh5h0E/UXEr3syGfPI/AAAAAAAAG-o/cXNQdu4ov1M/s640/ebay+dress+2.JPG" width="388" /></a></div><br />Again, never wore this slinky 1970s dress I bought off Etsy when I first moved to the UK. My life and style was already in transition then, and I didn't even know it. Bye bye, baby. Oh, the thrifted 1970s necklace went too. And the thrifted Nat and Matt handbag. I kept the amazing vintage bracelet.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ad9ECWeDt0c/UXEsKaF4NZI/AAAAAAAAG-w/167S5JDIXZc/s1600/DSCF9424+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ad9ECWeDt0c/UXEsKaF4NZI/AAAAAAAAG-w/167S5JDIXZc/s640/DSCF9424+(2).jpg" width="410" /></a></div><br />I also said goodbye to this fun striped cowl-neck number. I kept the vintage belt and thrifted Stuart Weitzman shoes.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uDIEFWdjPkQ/UXEsUemJU0I/AAAAAAAAG-4/yKnMbqbEx7s/s1600/P1000316.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-uDIEFWdjPkQ/UXEsUemJU0I/AAAAAAAAG-4/yKnMbqbEx7s/s640/P1000316.jpg" width="482" /></a></div><br />I just dropped off a swack of fall items at the shop, and discovered, to my surprise, that this 1970s scarf dress, and contemporary shoes that are so high I'd surely topple wearing them in Annecy's cobblestone streets, are the only two items from my hoard that didn't sell.<br /><br />The seller told me the waist was too small. Ok, now I believe it didn't sell. It's pretty small.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TfrFuCkEmQo/UXEsdFptWvI/AAAAAAAAG_A/W3jf3loJH6I/s1600/P1000317.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TfrFuCkEmQo/UXEsdFptWvI/AAAAAAAAG_A/W3jf3loJH6I/s640/P1000317.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br />I may never wear this again, but I'm glad I still have it. I wore this in Niagara Falls that wonderful weekend with hubby-to-be, so it's drenched in sexy memories.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZV_VN9j6ydA/UXEt6Z9aKwI/AAAAAAAAG_Q/cBXLPqhc_Cg/s1600/272944_10150239135581574_398120_o+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZV_VN9j6ydA/UXEt6Z9aKwI/AAAAAAAAG_Q/cBXLPqhc_Cg/s640/272944_10150239135581574_398120_o+(2).jpg" width="430" /></a></div><br />This is one vintage frock I couldn't consign, though I have little hope of fitting into it again.<br /><br />Hubby bought it for me in West Palm Beach, the place where we met, a year or so after initially hooking up there. I jetted in to meet him for a weekend when he was on layover, and we found this dress in a wonderful vintage shop. Ah, the romance. I bought the vintage Trifari necklace at the Portobello Road market with him the year before I married him. Natch, I've kept that one too. I'm wearing both here at a goodbye party thrown in my honour when I left the newspaper I used to work for in TO.<br /><br />I'm not sad to say goodbye to my once-beloved outfits. They served me well when I was a skinny, single big-city shopping columnist and editor. Now it's time to move on to a new style. I think the reason I love to shop continually is that my style is always evolving. Now, sans job, and with a new baby, my look is changing by the day - and hopefully refining itself. We'll see where it ends up. Oh, and I'm still bringing stuff to the consignment shop!kumarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15453468827367451438noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5707144963753882676.post-27677769546198664902013-08-15T12:50:00.000-07:002013-12-14T11:05:04.173-08:00Lakeside romps and letting go - almost! - of nylon<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-18Q64QWqH2Y/UgTEyGzdHsI/AAAAAAAAHRY/Zxag3yQTCSw/s1600/P1030384+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-18Q64QWqH2Y/UgTEyGzdHsI/AAAAAAAAHRY/Zxag3yQTCSw/s400/P1030384+(1).jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />There aren't heaps of lakeside restos or bars on Lac Annecy, so discovering the precious few - which inevitably are outside of Annecy proper - is like unearthing a mountain of precious gemstones, especially if the places are relatively unoccupied by tourists, as was the case with this charming restaurant on the south-west side of the lake that we had the pleasure of dining at a few weeks ago. Family has been visiting pretty much non-stop since Adam was born, so we've been busy doing a combo of day trips and just hanging out at various points along the lake.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H7OsbYgS5uo/UgzoZ_MqmII/AAAAAAAAHTk/VpHSM6s3PU8/s1600/securedownload-26.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="297" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-H7OsbYgS5uo/UgzoZ_MqmII/AAAAAAAAHTk/VpHSM6s3PU8/s400/securedownload-26.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br />Hubby and I found this lakeside beach bum hangout last weekend on the other side of the lake. It's populated by local hippie 20-somethings mostly, but we had no probs infiltrating it with our little guy. A great afternoon was spent lapping up rose and chilling. It was a mini vacay of sorts and it reminded us that we need to spend at least one day not running around doing the endless amount of errands that seem to crop up with a little one. After the hustle and bustle of the last few months, we really needed it.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mrAggQtcsQs/UgTF22IhMvI/AAAAAAAAHRw/_54lE8DhDBM/s1600/DSC_0497.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-mrAggQtcsQs/UgTF22IhMvI/AAAAAAAAHRw/_54lE8DhDBM/s400/DSC_0497.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />At three months, our little guy continues to grow and amaze. He apparently has some kind of gene that makes him cuter and cuter every day, LOL - I know, I'm the dazed-in-love Mommie!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_vFEAiktuSU/UgTGiR6COvI/AAAAAAAAHSE/QvSnDNBK0rc/s1600/DSC_0449.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_vFEAiktuSU/UgTGiR6COvI/AAAAAAAAHSE/QvSnDNBK0rc/s400/DSC_0449.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />Style-wise, I've been living in a selection of pretty boho sundresses, some second-hand, some new. Comfort, ease-of-wear (read: no ironing) and a breezy style have been my major criteria for summer togs these days. Here's me with Adam in a fave, a blue and white Ikat sundress found in an import shop in the old town.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0MBraiRgeDA/UgTHYPO9EJI/AAAAAAAAHSQ/n9MQr0Mzwr4/s1600/DSC_0511.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-0MBraiRgeDA/UgTHYPO9EJI/AAAAAAAAHSQ/n9MQr0Mzwr4/s400/DSC_0511.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />Here's an over-exposed shot of me in it, at the annual Fete du Lac event we attended with my sis and her fam. Best fireworks display ever.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nfRvX1yXadw/UgTJw7mac3I/AAAAAAAAHSg/POuACc9j04Y/s1600/IMG_4390.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nfRvX1yXadw/UgTJw7mac3I/AAAAAAAAHSg/POuACc9j04Y/s400/IMG_4390.jpg" width="298" /></a></div><br />Most of my style shots, you won't be surprised to learn, are with Adam. I need to do a separate post on this, but let me say that I've been jazzing up basic summer dresses (like this cotton nightie-inspired sundress found at the market last summer for three euro) with awesome vintage jewellery found online.<br /><br />France is not the place to find vintage bling, and most of the labels I'm looking for are from the States, so Etsy and Ebay have become close friends of late. I've become quite the collector, eking out certain makers, which means that, eventually, I'll have to thin out my tickle trunk of vintage costume baubles that I've dug up in Canadian thrift shops over the years.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i4CYo15l9vs/UgTQj325E-I/AAAAAAAAHTU/IU0QxIS_Ucg/s1600/Mommy+and+Adam+six+weeks.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i4CYo15l9vs/UgTQj325E-I/AAAAAAAAHTU/IU0QxIS_Ucg/s400/Mommy+and+Adam+six+weeks.JPG" width="297" /></a></div><br />Aside from bling and a decent handbag (the ethnic one pictured here was found at a vide grenier last fall for 3 euro), baby Adam has proved to be the best accessory. No, I dare not hold him on my hip as I strut around wearing four-inch spike heels (she looks great, but how <i>does</i> Victoria Beckham manage it?). On the lap or in the pram is just fine for public appearances.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jW5NpmrqWiE/UgTKibbqCeI/AAAAAAAAHSo/-NPaYOTGh04/s1600/P1030325+(1).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jW5NpmrqWiE/UgTKibbqCeI/AAAAAAAAHSo/-NPaYOTGh04/s400/P1030325+(1).jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br />I have, however, managed to channel my inner Victoria Beckham with these second-hand Rayban sunnies found at the local brocante market. Oddly enough, I recently consigned three pair of huge vintage oversize shades to my local shop. And here I go again, buying the same style. My only defense is they seem to suit my pixie face. Now I just need to manage the Beckham look by sucking in my cheeks and not smiling.<br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VLpIZy4iSr0/UgTPk3mkynI/AAAAAAAAHTI/DAtDw3ZnVCY/s1600/IMG00244-20130808-1114.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VLpIZy4iSr0/UgTPk3mkynI/AAAAAAAAHTI/DAtDw3ZnVCY/s640/IMG00244-20130808-1114.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br />Oops, a wee smile escaped in spite of myself. I should be grinning ear to ear as I'm pictured here wearing pre-preggo jeans, yay! So what if they're super stretchy? I'm going with it. Everything but the purse and shoes are second-hand. I just love the Juicy Couture super soft cotton tie-dye tank I thrifted in Canada (even if my belly hangs out a little in it).<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PUBG4_kpBjo/Ugzowu7KwcI/AAAAAAAAHTs/BAFhMh5O5ao/s1600/securedownload-46.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PUBG4_kpBjo/Ugzowu7KwcI/AAAAAAAAHTs/BAFhMh5O5ao/s640/securedownload-46.jpeg" width="425" /></a></div><br />Here's one of the few full-length shots I've managed to request, snapped last week on the way to the beach bum bar. Easy peasy sundress: check. Shades: check. Vintage bling: check (more on this haute hippie maker, Cadoro, at another time). Golden espadrille wedgies and cross-body purse: check and check. Now bring on the vino!<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qnP7D6lFWUQ/UgzpPnoeWjI/AAAAAAAAHT0/5XnFRj__jsM/s1600/securedownload-13.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qnP7D6lFWUQ/UgzpPnoeWjI/AAAAAAAAHT0/5XnFRj__jsM/s640/securedownload-13.jpeg" width="426" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>On another wardrobe note, I've consigned the majority of my vintage 1960s-70s frocks, mostly because they're the size that would fit a Barbie Doll, and I doubt my 27-inch waist will return. Also because, well, loud patterns and nylon just don't fit my life anymore, just as those vintage oversize sunglasses don't seem to fit. That funky retro chick that started this blog four-plus years ago has changed. It's ok, I've mourned it and moved on, as leaving behind my retro style has coincided with amazing changes in my life (but please note, I may still do the goodbye post that features all the dresses, which has been in my Drafts folder for ages). I've held onto this black floral number, though, as I love it and it makes my post-preggo bod look ok.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h2XfbeVY0pM/Ug0NkO73U7I/AAAAAAAAHUc/45IrZQqg8jQ/s1600/securedownload-32.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h2XfbeVY0pM/Ug0NkO73U7I/AAAAAAAAHUc/45IrZQqg8jQ/s400/securedownload-32.jpeg" width="300" /></a></div><br />I'll leave you with a shot of the wee one snapped at the beachy bar last weekend, wearing gifted items from overseas pals and fam. And I've found some real vintage gems of late to help me jazz up my maternity uniform.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4yj3IeaoVSU/UYqAwglGKnI/AAAAAAAAHEU/7sCn8aZVvLg/s1600/photo-154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="347" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4yj3IeaoVSU/UYqAwglGKnI/AAAAAAAAHEU/7sCn8aZVvLg/s400/photo-154.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />This 1980s? tapestry handbag, found on Etsy, is a fave. Normally I wear it cross-body as the strap is long and not adjustable. It's large enough to house the array of necessary stuff that accumulates in my daily bag of choice, plus I should be able to squish in some baby essentials like diapers and wipes in the coming months. The bonus to boot: it goes with practically everything.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AmBBqZRAi9Y/UYqC1U_1PzI/AAAAAAAAHEg/6Cy337JqEeU/s1600/P1030189.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="315" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AmBBqZRAi9Y/UYqC1U_1PzI/AAAAAAAAHEg/6Cy337JqEeU/s400/P1030189.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />I stalked this Sarah Coventry "Cleopatra" cuff bracelet with purply stone-like ovals for a while before finding one that was a screaming deal, also on Etsy. Over my H&M leggings and stretchy C'est Moi tank bought new in Toronto years ago (best tanks EVER), I wore a French-label statement piece blazer I picked up last summer in the consignment shop I frequent in Annecy. This was its first outing. The pattern is comprised of brown, bronze, taupe and silver sparkly threads. You can't see it here as I have no waist, but it has two amazing carved wood buttons. Very 1980s-90s chic. I have a definite thing for statement piece blazers but haven't worn them much since leaving Toronto.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WFYpu1-nLaY/UYI3EKe16FI/AAAAAAAAHBU/7b-_AEdf38w/s1600/April+26+-+36+weeks+1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-WFYpu1-nLaY/UYI3EKe16FI/AAAAAAAAHBU/7b-_AEdf38w/s640/April+26+-+36+weeks+1.jpeg" width="478" /></a></div><br />As is usually the case with me, the accessories are second-hand. I bought the vintage 1970s Trifari necklace for way too much money on London's Portobello Road. The 1980s Kelly-style bag was a few pounds in a Beaconsfield, UK charity shop. The oh-so-comfy cork-wedge and suede Ugg sandals are another local consignment shop find.<br /><br />This is the last you'll see of my mop-like hair for a while, hopefully, as I'm getting it thinned out tonight. I've been torn between growing and chopping of late: I don't want uber short hair like I used to have, but once it gets to this shapeless stage that overpowers my features, I cave, and try yet another local hairdresser. (I have high hopes for tonight's stylist, contender number three for my undying hair loyalty and affection, as he cut a friend's hair and it looks amazing).<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O9iuKGYgaQ4/UYI_uh0UGUI/AAAAAAAAHBk/16AHcJrQhz8/s1600/April+30,+37+weeks+1.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O9iuKGYgaQ4/UYI_uh0UGUI/AAAAAAAAHBk/16AHcJrQhz8/s640/April+30,+37+weeks+1.jpeg" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This week: 37 weeks.</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I fear I'm lapsing into predictability. Another legging shot with another second-hand brown top, boho in style, dug up for a few Euro at the local Sunday market where I chanced upon an actual second-hand dealer a couple months ago. It's not a maternity top per se, but it's the perfect preggo top as it's roomy and hides my upper thighs. :)<br /><br />The boots were bought new in Canada; the denim was charity shopped, as was the 1970s paua shell necklace. The bracelet was 5 Euros in my local thrift shop, and the Indian bag was an Etsy find for 10 Euros.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DP8TwKCXmUU/UYJBEQN3cTI/AAAAAAAAHBw/TBtu6G34E-Y/s1600/securedownload-20.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-DP8TwKCXmUU/UYJBEQN3cTI/AAAAAAAAHBw/TBtu6G34E-Y/s400/securedownload-20.jpeg" width="400" /></a></div><br />I'm taking a break as we walked home with groceries earlier this week. We whipped up a Tex-Mex dinner extravaganza for friends that night, also fellow expats. We often get sick of the French fare here, which consists mainly of potatoes, melted cheese, and sausage, so we indulge in non-local foodie fare with peeps who will enjoy it with us whenever we can (this includes having brunch at a semi-trashy local Chinese buffet and lunch at a Thai resto in a nearby town - ethnic food isn't so easy to find here).<br /><br />Not such a flattering pic. I feel rather whale-like these days, though I know I shouldn't complain as I've gained under 20 pounds so far. :)<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dkzT0gBTEpI/UYJB_T4mbDI/AAAAAAAAHCA/mSTuhXMmI8Y/s1600/securedownload-22.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dkzT0gBTEpI/UYJB_T4mbDI/AAAAAAAAHCA/mSTuhXMmI8Y/s400/securedownload-22.jpeg" width="298" /></a></div><br />Hope you're all having a great and very spring-like week. With four or five weeks ago, we're in the final stages of baby prep: the crib is set up, the baby clothes are clean and ready, and the hospital bag is packed. We've also gone out for dinner with friends almost every night for the past week and a bit - gotta get our social ya-yas out while we can, right? The other day we drove up to the mountains and sunned ourselves on a huge patio, admiring Mont Blanc in the distance (not the mountain pictured above), while eating crepes and quaffing <i>chocolat chaud</i>. The weather has ranged from 24 degrees C and sunny to cooler rainy days, but the flowers and trees have exploded with popping blossoms and leaves - it is truly beautiful spring in Haute Savoie!<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xb_WVRazIa4/UXptVn5GAXI/AAAAAAAAG_w/tuBxXoQU2bU/s1600/securedownload-22.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xb_WVRazIa4/UXptVn5GAXI/AAAAAAAAG_w/tuBxXoQU2bU/s640/securedownload-22.jpeg" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Last week: 35 weeks</td></tr></tbody></table><br />For cooler days, I've upgraded my standard black maternity tights and generic black top look by adding a second-hand tapestry coat I picked up at the local consignment shop where I've left some of my 1970s frocks. I LOVE this baby. It's contemporary and likely only a few seasons old, made by Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti. I've seen a few listings for this exact coat online and apparently it sold for over $1,400 US new. Yeeps. I can't get the buttons on the coat closed at the mo, but no matter: that will come. I'll say it again: I just love this coat! It's sleek and stylish and will rock my neutrals, everything from jeans and wedge booties to dresses and wideleg pants.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5fI8rki5kks/UXpxh3Z_23I/AAAAAAAAHAM/v7c0e17M_Tc/s1600/securedownload-33.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5fI8rki5kks/UXpxh3Z_23I/AAAAAAAAHAM/v7c0e17M_Tc/s640/securedownload-33.jpeg" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Last week: 35 weeks</td></tr></tbody></table><br />This blue beaut is a definite vintage 1970s find, stalked several months ago on Etsy by moi before I finally broke down and hit the "buy" button. I'm wearing it with thrifted Italian-made blue suede boots and a new wool dress that has served my expanding girth very well of late. It's slightly less fitted than the other coat but no less amazing, in my humble opin.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e7izbndSUk0/UXpzUb1lh5I/AAAAAAAAHAc/iwpBfhnvrIg/s1600/securedownload-28.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-e7izbndSUk0/UXpzUb1lh5I/AAAAAAAAHAc/iwpBfhnvrIg/s640/securedownload-28.jpeg" width="476" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;"><br /></td></tr></tbody></table><br />When I can fit back into my denim, I can see myself wearing this with a simple white tee, slightly flared blue jeans, strappy sandals and ethnic silver bling. My style solution, to pep things up a bit: accessories, natch. I feel good, but tired. Thankfully I've had some good friends helping me.<br /><br />I love this outfit - you can see I'm still groovin' on the tribal theme. I found this microfibre ruffle skirt in the old town new and fell in love with the pattern. Remember this style of skirt? I wore them as a teen in the early 80s.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vuLHkc8kJNI/UV734WWv_TI/AAAAAAAAG70/GrkZ4mZUHso/s1600/P1030152.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-vuLHkc8kJNI/UV734WWv_TI/AAAAAAAAG70/GrkZ4mZUHso/s640/P1030152.JPG" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">33 Weeks!</td></tr></tbody></table><br />The skirt just happens to go remarkably well with the tribal-esque scarf I bought at a December market in Annecy, also new. I threw in a Guatamalan bag I found for 5 Euros in Geneva. The sweater is new and accommodates my growing belly. Only the boots, ring and necklace are second-hand.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GgtCjbgNgoM/UV745B0MJ-I/AAAAAAAAG78/zdCzamEzWx8/s1600/P1030154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-GgtCjbgNgoM/UV745B0MJ-I/AAAAAAAAG78/zdCzamEzWx8/s400/P1030154.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><br />Ignore the bad hair and focus on the sparkly gem-like pendant (matched up with a vintage chain found in my box), found for a few Euro at the monthly brocante market here in Annecy. Normally the vintage bling pickings are slim at this market, but I happened upon a vendor this time with a few nifty pieces (one that I'll show you another time).<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UOUQWfFx0Gw/UV75fd5ZSBI/AAAAAAAAG8E/zNROox_D46A/s1600/+two+sided+pendant+3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UOUQWfFx0Gw/UV75fd5ZSBI/AAAAAAAAG8E/zNROox_D46A/s400/+two+sided+pendant+3.jpg" width="373" /></a></div><br />Check it out: it's two-sided, perfect for the Gemini in me!<br /><br />Now, who would have thought that, before I even found this necklace, I went back and bought the same skirt as the one above, except in red hues? And who would have ever imagined that I also bought the red version of the above scarf because I loved the blue one so well?<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LaVvFGguUH4/UV76OtTfoQI/AAAAAAAAG8M/G50BhH7S_HY/s1600/scarf+skirt+combo.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="306" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LaVvFGguUH4/UV76OtTfoQI/AAAAAAAAG8M/G50BhH7S_HY/s400/scarf+skirt+combo.png" width="400" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Scarves and skirts, all matchy-matchy</td></tr></tbody></table><br />Normally I don't plan things this well, nor am I really the person to buy TWO of one thing in different colours (I thought only men did that!). But these pieces and outfits they comprise seem to have been fated by the Style Gods. Not that I'm into matchy-matchy, as a rule, but I like the way everything has come together, and how the necklace, bought after the scarves and the skirts, just happens to complement their colour schemes! Yes, little things such as this excite me.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jk0mz1G6324/UV78hpKRSdI/AAAAAAAAG8U/pKRZv6DQOto/s1600/thrift+bling.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Jk0mz1G6324/UV78hpKRSdI/AAAAAAAAG8U/pKRZv6DQOto/s400/thrift+bling.png" width="400" /></a></div><br />You can see I'm experimenting with collaging my finds. Anyone know a free program that doesn't have its name on the photos? I'm all for attribution, but in a caption. :)<br /><br />The ring, part of the outfit, was found in the thrift shop for a Euro. I love the dome-like structure and green glass.<br /><br />Thrifted at the same shop: huge handmade (and signed, but can't make it out) brass pendant with figure on it. I need to find a cord or chain worthy of it.<br /><br />I replace my beat up wallets every season or so, and they're always thrifted, like this cute fabric David Jones one. And I couldn't resist the pink rhinestone brooch. It has such an Art Deco or Nouveau feel to it. It'll look cool on a jean jacket.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-58wbL_495Ss/UV79q30GsQI/AAAAAAAAG8c/DnnNSRKPuhI/s1600/P1030157.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-58wbL_495Ss/UV79q30GsQI/AAAAAAAAG8c/DnnNSRKPuhI/s400/P1030157.JPG" width="297" /></a></div><br />Speaking of cool, don't you just love the onsie our good friends, who've just had their baby, customized for us? It's perfect, considering I've found some great baby clothing at the thrift shop. No doubt, the thrift shop will be a place where the little guy will grow up!<br /><br />Linking up, in advance, to the gorgeous gals over at Patti's <a href="http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.fr/" target="_blank">Visible Monday</a>.kumarhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15453468827367451438noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5707144963753882676.post-90181635420635413072013-03-31T10:20:00.000-07:002013-12-14T11:05:05.129-08:00Tribal, a la mass market<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-i1YJpVVzq4A/UVhkCmvEhAI/AAAAAAAAG68/6Tg99S_YDKI/s1600/photo-159.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-i1YJpVVzq4A/UVhkCmvEhAI/AAAAAAAAG68/6Tg99S_YDKI/s640/photo-159.JPG" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">32 weeks - and running out of pants!</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I often feel guilty the odd time I buy mass market clothing; then, when it falls apart, I feel cheated. But desperate needs call for desperate measures. I have only one pair of maternity leggings - my only pair of pants these days - so a quick trip to my local H&M yielded several pair of inexpensive maternity bottoms that`ll hopefully hold together long enough to see me through the next couple months and post-baby.<br /><br />On the sale (non-maternity rack), I found this cotton tribal-esque oversize cardi for a song. True, its threads catch on everything as I walk by, and it`ll likely unravel off my body one day, but I just thought it was so cute for spring, when the weather is still chill but doesn`t quite warrant a full on winter coat.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aFEks7O_-Vs/UVhm_9QIOyI/AAAAAAAAG7E/0SkHWKTcqWk/s1600/photo-160.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="298" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aFEks7O_-Vs/UVhm_9QIOyI/AAAAAAAAG7E/0SkHWKTcqWk/s400/photo-160.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />I`m wearing it here with the new leggings, along with thrifted boots, turtleneck and pendant necklace. The outfit was already starting to feel pretty matchy-matchy, and the bag may have created a pattern overload.<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LIr_4dkN6Y8/UVhse5E9ckI/AAAAAAAAG7c/QK-x_Pcdlfc/s1600/photo-156.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-LIr_4dkN6Y8/UVhse5E9ckI/AAAAAAAAG7c/QK-x_Pcdlfc/s640/photo-156.JPG" width="478" /></a></div><br />I am ever so slowly starting to run out of tops to fit my expanding stomach. Good thing the seasons are changing. I`m now starting to amass a small collection of spring and summer tops that`ll do for the next few months and post-baby. My local second-hand shop, and Etsy, have proved invaluable in helping me find stylish, affordable and practical options comprised of mainly cotton button-down empire waisted blouses or oversize blouses, to hide a post-baby pooch and for easy breast-feeding action.<br /><br />As for the bottom half, well, I think unimaginative black leggings will have to do as they`re the only comfy options that fit around a non-waist. I`ll be jazzing them up with great accessories though - stay tuned! And Happy Easter to you! But that's the amazing thing about thrifting: because it can be so inexpensive, it gives you freedom to experiment with new colours and styles that you typically wouldn't if you were to pay full price.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WwwQ2Odxr0w/UU7rZ1yIxcI/AAAAAAAAG6M/6De9QQgW5Wo/s1600/fall+2011+001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-WwwQ2Odxr0w/UU7rZ1yIxcI/AAAAAAAAG6M/6De9QQgW5Wo/s640/fall+2011+001.jpg" width="480" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Flashback to 2010, to another thrifted leather jacket find<br />(to when I had thighs).</td></tr></tbody></table><br />Ditto for this slightly sheeny bubble-gum pink cropped leather I found in Toronto in 2010 at a half-off thrift sale. If it were 20-plus bucks, I very likely would have turned my nose up at it. But for about $10 (if memory serves), I snatched it up. The jacket spruces up denim, black or a relatively neutral outfit. And the wacky pink makes me smile. :)<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4xZvAJ-2AgM/UU70aqJ-g-I/AAAAAAAAG6s/M1lMhJ5mskM/s1600/fall+2011+002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4xZvAJ-2AgM/UU70aqJ-g-I/AAAAAAAAG6s/M1lMhJ5mskM/s640/fall+2011+002.jpg" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Wearing the same vintage booties, along with a vintage leather bag, thrifted sweater, designer jeans<br />and purple Coach sunnies.<br />(Scarf bought new and worth every penny of the exorbitant price I paid for it at Anthropologie).</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I kept most of the pieces comprising this outfit when I moved overseas, save for the designer Angel jeans found for a few bucks in a Toronto thrift shop. I was super super teeny back then, as a single girl. Marriage and general happiness (and not eating crackers and cheese for dinner) automatically put a couple pounds on me. My new and expanding body is a blessing, even though I do sometimes mourn my former uber-svelte self. On another note, check out this bracelet I found at the thrift shop the same day as the vide grenier for 5 Euros. I've always loved this look but never wanted to pay full-price for it. It's got a slightly '90s vibe crossed with a tribal feel. I've been wearing it endlessly.<br /><br />Does thrifting allow you to try on new or different looks, or acquire pieces you'd never buy new?<br /><br />Linking up with the lovely ladies at Pattie's <a href="http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.fr/2013/03/visible-monday-90-army-style.html" target="_blank">Visible Monday</a> - the 90th installment! I love it sooo much.<br /><br />I bought it at the thrift shop where the vide grenier was, on the same day as the vide grenier (see post below), except it was full price in the boutique (30 Euros). But when my eagle-thrifting eye landed on it, even though I didn't know the label, I loved it on sight and knew it was a quality piece. Plus the swing shape perfectly accommodates wee Bobo (AKA the bump - surely I'm not the only preggo attach a name to it?).<br /><br />The label is Weill, a Paris-based fashion-house that's always been, and still is, family-owned. According to the website, the label pioneered ready-to-wear in France. Established in 1892, it's apparently the oldest French fashion house (though Lanvin, founded seven years later, claims it's the oldest French fashion house still operating).<br /><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJV5zNiQ13w/UUcGgroOHvI/AAAAAAAAG5k/Z2ZuMCYRcgg/s1600/photo-145+(2).jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-XJV5zNiQ13w/UUcGgroOHvI/AAAAAAAAG5k/Z2ZuMCYRcgg/s640/photo-145+(2).jpg" width="478" /></a></div><br />It's a crepe wool, and has obviously been crumpled for a while as it's a tad wrinkled. Just look at the detailing - those buttons with the "W" on them! The sleeves are three-quarters, but the coat doesn't feel vintage. The corded detailing and shape have a too-contemporary look to me.<br /><br />A quick peep at the website reveals a spring wool trench-style coat a little shorter than this to be 745 Euros.<br /><br />And the coolest thing? The collections are made in the company's factory on Laon, which isn't far from Annecy.<br /><br />It's definitely not an everyday coat, but I'm hoping I can glam up my not-so-glam maternity wear to wear this often, as it's just the perfect spring-weight coat!<br /><br />Linking up with all the fabulously stylish chickie-boos at Patti's <a href="http://notdeadyetstyle.blogspot.fr/2013/03/visible-monday-89-suitably-dressed.html" target="_blank">Visible Monday</a> and Lakota's <a href="http://faithhopeandcharityshopping.blogspot.fr/2013/03/ta-dah-tuesday-8th-birthday-cake.html" target="_blank">Ta-dah! Sleepless nights characterized by frequent bathroom trips and tossing and turning to find a comfy position, topped off by hubby snoring and cat crying at all hours, has pretty much set the tone this last week for an overwhelming tetchiness that makes me want to hip-check every dawdle-poke or generally annoying person who gets in my way.<br /><br />Good thing a master haul at my local thrift shop's spring vide grenier (rummage sale, basically) this past Saturday is helping my zzzz-deprived brain manufacture some happy hormones when I think of all the great stuff I found there - two (huge) bags full of clothing for between 1-2 Euros each - including this wool-mohair blend coat from Paris (2 Euros).<br /><br />The lining is thin so it was the perfect coat to don earlier this week, when temps soared to the teens.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YaTDX9ahSbs/UUIwQ_BCJUI/AAAAAAAAG44/xifvBZEA3j0/s1600/photo-120.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YaTDX9ahSbs/UUIwQ_BCJUI/AAAAAAAAG44/xifvBZEA3j0/s640/photo-120.JPG" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Wool-blend sweater: a Euro at the same sale</td></tr></tbody></table><br />I'm not great at this style of vide grenier - basically a big table with stuff tossed on it for all to fight over - but surprisingly there weren't too many pushy peeps. I was able to dig up this red wool-blend floppy turtleneck sweater, again with a Paris label, without any major incident (and for a Euro). I don't wear red often but I can do this shade, and I just loved the dart-like detailing on the sides.<br /><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fy8Wl-9FfEo/UUI0YfDErBI/AAAAAAAAG5E/B8ZrzAjUd3Y/s1600/photo-119.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fy8Wl-9FfEo/UUI0YfDErBI/AAAAAAAAG5E/B8ZrzAjUd3Y/s640/photo-119.JPG" width="478" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Thyme maternity skirt, thrifted in Canada; Benetton patent leather brogues, thrifted in Annecy;<br />Scarf, Annecy market; Vintage bracelet, UK auction house; <br />leather purse, new and handmade by Montreal, Canada artisan.<br /><br />30 weeks: POP!</td></tr></tbody></table><br />As you can see, I've really popped out in the last week. I'm still going strong with the support hose, and comfy shoes that highlight my flipper feet ... funny how I'm trying my best to be stylish but won't compromise when it comes to sensible - and safe - footwear. I wouldn't want to topple over wearing heels, now would I?<br /><br />I have heaps more to show you from the vide grenier. Must snap some pics one of these mornings, when I have more oomph.
